Just like the relationships in the real world, online relationships need tending, to grow over time. Here are some quick tips to look over.
1. Take time and make time. Does your online date get in touch with you on a regular basis? Do you do the same? Neglecting virtual meetings may be considered abuse or neglect, so treat each other and each other’s time with respect. If it’s not working too well, it may be time to move on.
2. Communication has to “Feel” right between both of you. If one of you is too pushy about wanting to meet, for example, that can give off a bad vibe. So don’t rush, take your time. Take time to communicate and learn more about each other and develop confidence and trust for one another.
3. Respect each other’s boundaries and privacy. Don’t share personal email addresses, passwords, or digital photos online, for example, if your online date sent you a private message or picture.
4. Share your online and offline excitement. Online – send greeting cards, links to favorite places to upload movies of your favorite digital photos, download music and video clips, post on favorite forums. Offline- if you’re exchanging addresses, send greeting cards and postcards, or small gift from your area (like something special from your area).
Tend to your online relationship. Water your relationship with care and over time you’ll see it sprout and grow.
